The Labor Federation has recently issued three statewide strike sanctions that we want to share with you.
The California Federation of Labor Unions has sanctioned strikes by AFSCME Local 3299 and UPTE-CWA Local 9119 at University of California locations across the state – including medical centers, clinics, student health centers and campuses – as they take to the picket line to protest unfair labor practices, including threats, intimidation and strike interference. AFSCME 3299 is striking on behalf of patient care technical and service bargaining units that have been subjected to unilateral policy changes that restrict union access, threats and disciplinary actions against workers engaging in protected activities and illegal polling and intimidation leading up to the union’s previous strike in November 2024. UPTE-CWA is striking on behalf of its healthcare, research and technical bargaining units that have faced a crisis of employee recruitment and retention due to a lack of competitive wages and a broken reclassification system that has resulted in an endless cycle of burnout and turnover, as well as a response to the UC’s implementation of new restrictions on union activity and advocacy. We urge everyone to show solidarity by showing up at UC locations across the state, where AFSCME will be picketing on Feb. 26 and 27 and UPTE-CWA will be picketing on Feb. 26, 27 and 28. Your support is crucial in sending a message to the UC that the California Labor movement stands in strong solidarity with our AFSCME and UPTE-CWA brothers and sisters! See you out on the strike lines!
